Rara Lake
The Rara Lake Trek is a journey into the wild and remote Karnali region of western Nepal. This trek is characterized by its tranquil atmosphere, uncrowded trails, and stunning natural beauty. The main attraction is Rara Lake, Nepal's largest and deepest lake, situated at an altitude of 2,990m within the Rara National Park. The park is a sanctuary for diverse flora and fauna, including the endangered red panda and musk deer. The trek starts from Jumla and winds through rustic villages, dense forests of pine, spruce, and juniper, and offers panoramic views from high ridges like Chuchemara Danda. It is a moderate trek, perfect for those seeking peace, pristine nature, and a glimpse into the authentic rural lifestyle of western Nepal.
