Jiri to Everest Base Camp
The Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is the historic and classic route taken by early mountaineering expeditions, including the historic 1953 Everest ascent. Starting from the lower elevations of Jiri, this trail slowly gains altitude, allowing for exceptional acclimatization and an in-depth exploration of the lower Solukhumbu region. You will traverse rolling hills, lush rhododendron forests, terraced farmlands, and traditional villages of the Rai, Jirel, and Sherpa people before converging with the main Everest trail at Phakding. This long, arduous, yet profoundly rewarding journey culminates at the base of the world's highest peak and the iconic viewpoint of Kala Patthar (5,545m).
